Apprenticeship Ireland – Schools and Centres Competition for 2025.

Second level learners to showcase Green Values in Creative Generation Apprenticeship Competition

The National Apprenticeship Office is inviting second level learners to enter an exciting competition showcasing their creativity and green values.

Now in its fourth year, the Generation Apprenticeship Schools and Centres Competition promotes the sustainable benefits of apprenticeships, highlighting the 77+ diverse career programmes available to secondary school students and career seekers.

Participants are challenged to create or design a physical or virtual letter ‘A’ to symbolise their apprenticeship, while showcasing creativity, skills and innovation. Individual and groups entrants should reflect the opportunities created by apprenticeships for positive climate action.

This year, schools may also produce a short apprenticeship podcast focussing on green and sustainable values.

A prize fund of €500 is up for grabs for the top entry.

Dr Mary-Liz Trant, Director of the National Apprenticeship Office, said: “We are delighted to host the Generation Apprenticeship Schools and Centres Competition for 2025.

“Now is the time to highlight the importance learners attach to green values, positive climate action and sustainability.

“Apprenticeships offer key career pathways for young people who want to build a eco-friendly and sustainable future for Ireland.

“Our learners are deeply engaged in supporting climate positive behaviours. Through the competition students and schools will learn more about apprenticeships that drive a greener future, including Horticulture, Farming, Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician, Finance, Construction apprenticeships and much more.”

As well as cash prizes, competition winners will also gain an exciting opportunity to be featured in a national, outdoor advertising campaign promoting green skills, and showing how our individual choices can affect our environment.

Previous competition winners include students from Coláiste Eoin, Dublin, for their ‘Green Alert’ series of ‘A’ constructions demonstrating how apprenticeships are linked to green energy.

The Generation Apprenticeship Schools and Centres competition is open until Wednesday, 09 April 2025. Entries can be made via completing the competition entry form now available here at www.apprenticeship.ie.
