DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on supporting the physical and psychological wellness of elephants in human care through non-human-dependent activities\, and highlight some of the ground-breaking habitat features of the African Elephant Program in Al AIn Zoo in the UAE. We will discuss the species-specific behaviours that need to be accommodated in elephant habitat design\, and the importance of dynamic and interactive environments for elephants of all ages. We will also highlight how activity levels\, intentional locomotion and novelty can positively impact the social structures of elephant herds\, including unrelated\, familial and bachelor groups.
