Advice for TY Mini Companies

How to take part in the Student Enterprise Programme (SEP)

The Local Enterprise Office in Wexford will reach out to all secondary schools in County Wexford in September asking them if they wish to take part in this year’s Student Enterprise Programme.Entry form

Schools who wish to participate in the programme and competition must fill in and return a School Registration Form in early September.

Groups or Individual Entrepreneurs

Mini-companies can be started and run by groups of students with a maximum of five members being allowed to represent the group at County and National Finals should they progress. Individuals can run their own enterprises either but we would encourage teachers to try and get students to work in groups to build their teamworking skills.

Normally a teacher enters a whole class into the programme…

Typically school-based support is sought in the following areas:

  • planning to introduce the TY programme in the school
  • writing the TY programme document
  • planning induction programmes for TY students
  • teaching and learning methodologies in TY
  • assessment methods in TY
  • evaluating the TY programme in the school

Work with educational agencies/organisations

Some of the work of the support service involves liaison with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Department of Education & Skills Inspectorate, Teacher Unions, National Management and Parent bodies.

Work with non-educational agencies and organisations

The service also acts as educational consultant to organisations and agencies who wish to provide course materials for TY.
